It is through the partnership with Middlebury Community Schools, that it is possible for all donations to Stable Grounds, Inc. to go directly to the care of the animals and the upkeep of the barn & facility. Middlebury Community Schools pay for the salaries of three employees: two Mental Health Therapists and one Equine Assistant. At this time, because of the two entities working so closely together, the students of the Middlebury community are the clients that are served through the school day.
A second phase of Stable Grounds was launched last April, with the nonprofit being awarded almost $200,000 for an additional second arena by the Elkhart County Community Foundation. In this new space, students and families from surrounding communities will be able to access the services of Stable Grounds through scholarships or contracts with other school systems or agencies.
